An international prayer ministry will start to work this year on setting up prayer rooms on all U.S. college and university campuses.
On Jan. 1, U.K.-based ministry 24-7 Prayer launched its Campus America initiative with the aim to establish prayer rooms on the 2,614 college and universities in the United States in hopes of seeing a year of unbroken prayer on America’s campuses.
The 24-7 prayer model calls for local Christians to organize and commit to praying in one-hour shifts all through the night and day. In the ten years that the group has existed, it has mobilized prayer rooms in more than 100 nations, including on hundreds of university campuses.

February Marks Month of Prayer for Haiti's Children

International Christian aid agency World Vision is encouraging Americans this month to especially pray for the critical needs of children in Haiti.
The agency proclaimed February to be the month of prayer for Haiti’s children, who are susceptible to diseases, infection and exploitation in addition to homelessness and hunger in the aftermath of last month’s devastating earthquake.
“We are especially concerned about children’s needs and vulnerabilities in this disaster,” said Steve Haas, World Vision’s vice president for church relations. “We know it is going to be a marathon – and not a sprint – to help them and their families recover and rebuild their lives.”
On Jan. 12, a 7.0-magnitude quake struck Haiti, devastating its capital Port-au-Prince and leaving at least 150,000 people dead and 1.5 million homeless. Though aid has been pouring into the island nation, the support is not enough because the country –the poorest in the Western hemisphere – lacks the infrastructure to deal with such a calamity.

A Christian supply teacher who was dismissed for offering to pray for a sick pupil has won the right to return to her former job.
Olive Jones, 54, was sacked after offering to pray for a 14-year-old math student suffering from leukaemia.
The girl’s mother complained to Mrs Jones’ employers, Oak Hill Short Stay School and Tuition Service, who took the decision to dismiss her in November without any formal investigation.

Christians, Muslims, Jews Worship at Evangelical Megachurch
|

|
It was an unusual Sunday morning worship at Northwood Church in Keller, Texas. Christians, Muslims and Jews sat together in the megachurch to hear an evangelical pastor preach about Jesus.
The three faith groups had already visited the Islamic Center of Irving the previous day and the Temple Shalom of North Dallas on Friday before congregating inside the Christian house of worship. And they don't plan to make this a one-time event.
As Northwood Senior Pastor Bob Roberts said Sunday, the three groups are making an attempt to get to know one another, understand the different teachings and worldviews, and become friends.
While such multifaith worship gatherings have raised eyebrows, Roberts said they are not trying to minimize differences or compromise their beliefs. In fact, the evangelical pastor discourages it. He wants all three faith groups to be honest about their differences and hold to their core convictions.

The Vatican newspaper and radio station are criticizing James Cameron's 3-D blockbuster for flirting with the idea that worship of nature can replace religion – a notion the pope has warned against. They call the movie a simplistic and sappy tale, despite its awe-inspiring special effects.
"Not much behind the images" was how the Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, summed it up in a headline.
